Programming Unplugged Adventures: How Computers Decide

$15.00

Bundle up and head north—this time we’re exploring Greenland, land of towering glaciers, mighty whales, and the resilient Inuit people—while learning how computers make decisions with if statements!

Programming Unplugged Adventures: How Computers Decide is the second full workbook in a screen-free series designed to teach elementary-aged children how to code by thinking deeply about how computers work—without ever logging in. Through a mix of culture, crafts, and logic, kids will discover how programmers use conditionals to help computers make choices and follow the right path.

Here’s what your child will learn:

  • Boolean variables (true/false)
  • If/then/else statements
  • Logical operators (and/or/not)
  • Debugging and decomposition
  • Flow charts and nesting conditionals
  • Algorithms and sequencing

Along the way, they’ll also discover the culture and history of Greenland, including Inuit traditions; Arctic wildlife like polar bears, musk oxen, and Greenland sharks; UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Ilulissat Icefjord and Kujataa; how to bake (or pretend to bake if you prefer!) a traditional Greenlandic bread; and a game played only in Greenland!

No coding experience is needed—parents can guide and play along without ever touching a keyboard.

The series so far:

If you’re a parent who wants your child to learn real coding logic—while crafting, playing, and exploring the world—this workbook is for you.

Here’s what people are saying:

Your courses are a God send in a time when everything is on screen. I prefer your courses to scratch coding or any other coding program. It is very easy for my child to understand even without a pc in front of him. He is able to later demonstrate what we learned perfectly fine. -Krystal

How computers decide with such a great curriculum. My son enjoyed every minute of it and it was is easy to keep him focused through the whole thing… He’s learning things I had to learn on the computer. I love the fact he is learning offline. -Jessica

We thoroughly enjoyed it, and I feel that it’s been far more effective than some other techniques we’ve tried, both screen based and screen free. -Emma

GREAT Resource. We love this program! -Korie

My kids enjoyed this and it is the only school activity they actually ask to do. -Courtney
